After thinking about what I wanted to do with my life, I finally made a decision. This decision was made while talking to my uncle about what he did for a living and in doing so became fascinated in his type of work. I then realized my personality was a perfect fit also because I am caring, kind, hardworking, and helpful. All of these traits could be very beneficial in this field of work.
After college, I want to become an environmental engineer. One day when talking with my uncle I asked him what he did for a living. As he told me the feeling of being interested set in and it was decided that maybe this was something I would want to do. After evaluation, it was concluded that I was the perfect fit. I have great leadership skills: I am told that I am a born leader. The development of this trait was achieved throughout my life and through my thoughts and reasoning’s. If I want to become an environmental engineer when I am older, this trait may be of great benefit when one day if I have to give orders. Also I am caring, loyal and respectful which could also be very beneficial in this field of work.
While researching this field of work, it was apparent that it would require a lot of college and I would have to get very good grades. In order to get good grades I will have to study hard so I can maintain an A-B average. In addition to getting an A-B average I will also have to maintain a GPA of 3.5 or higher to have a wide range of colleges that are interested in me. Furthermore in maintaining an A-B average and a 3.5 or higher GPA I will also have to graduate in the top ten in my class so a wide range of colleges are interested in me. I also noticed that this field of work requires you to know a lot about math and science. Knowing this, taking math and science throughout all four years in high school is a must. All of these things seemed overwhelming at first but then I remembered what my mom and dad always say: that you can do anything if you put your mind to it. And this saying is to be true if I continue to do well in school and really put forth the effort to get this type of job.
I have done a lot of things to make me a better candidate for this job. I volunteered at a camp as an apprentice counselor over the past two summers and have accumulated over a total of 500 hours in doing so. This shows that I am a great leader, caring, and respectful because I was around kids all day and had fun with them, helped them, and took care of them.
I am also in extracurricular activities like football, baseball, and band to help me be a better candidate for this job. Furthermore I have also gotten academic awards for my grades, football, band, and baseball. Due to these awards, my transcript will give employers and colleges a good impression of me and they will know that I can maintain good grades while involved in an extracurricular activity.
All of these different things make me a great candidate for the environmental engineer job field. I am a leader, caring, respectful, and responsible. Also I believe in myself and have past experiences that make me more qualified than others.
